Johan, Rasmus and Niklas met and started playing music together in the early years of school - but it wasn't until near the end of high school that they begun making plans of forming a band. Stefan, a high school classmate of Johan's, was asked to join the group in the beginning of 2009 - Coby Core was founded.

In March 2009 they entered the studio to record their first EP called the Surface EP. The core of the tracks were recorded and edited in Fryshuset's Atlas Studio in Stockholm, while the final touches were later on added in Rasmus' own studio.

In the summer of 2009 the group made an own-financed tour to Berlin where played a couple of shows together with German band Johnny & the Juicebox and the British band Lovepark.

Financed by earlier live performances, the recording of the White Trees EP commenced in August 2009 in the Molotov Studios of Stockholm. The tracks were then released on the 15th of September accopanied by their first music video to the head single White Trees.

The band revisited Molotov Studios to record their third EP. Home Good Away Okay was recorded during an intense week. The song Ghosts was later judged among the final 5 finalists in the Swedish radio channel P4's Svensktoppen Nästa - but was unfortunately disqualified for reasons still unclear.

In late 2010 Oskar, a former member of the band Epelectric and a friend of Niklas' brother joined the band.

Coby Core's music is inspired from various sources of music, but is better explained as Freshpop. And what Freshpop means, is best explained by listening to Coby Core.
